KSDF realized that its' development initiatives with the support of Bandhan should reach out to humanity at the poorest, most distressed and deprived population and the poorest of the poor were deprived of being financially included that is crucial for their economic development and self dependent.
Objective of the program as summarized is to bring in inspirational changes, social and economic development of the poorest families – so called helpless, less confident and economically vulnerable women headed families so that those families are able to get minimum food for all it‘s family members, be safe and can maintain healthy lives, become aware & confident making their lives dignified getting proper citizenship identity that is recognized by their society.
The primary target group/ beneficiaries of the project
Women in all the category of SC, OBC, PWD, Minority, General and who are ultra-poor families.
THP program– towards improving self confidence and positive attitude by counseling at homes, capacity building support by way of technical assistance, business skill development, providing productive assets for enterprise, advocacy & institutional linkages for entitlements & benefits.
Engaged village based community owned pro-poor institution (Ati Daridra Sahayak Samity) and extended inspirational & technical training cum handholding support at the doorstep & at the group/association and facilitation for social & economic entitlements & benefits & financial services (microfinance, savings, life insurance) targeting to graduating & mainstreaming the poorest of the poor.
This holistic strategy of ensuring sustainable livelihood and building social capital coupled with financial inclusion has worked well for such hapless families. It was tested through a CGAP/ World bank pilot project on RCT basis six years back and 100 families covered in Sandeshkhali, Sunderban area, West Bengal, the graduation level is over 90%.
